Long Jetty Renovation Episode 5 – Let’s stay in

After finishing the front two bedrooms, the momentum is picking up and we have a new found energy! Well….Kyal has energy….I think the reno and being a working mum has caught up with me at this point as I’m feeling extremely tired! No rest for us until this beauty is finished and on the market!

Our attention shifts to the media room, bedroom 3 and the study nook

What is exciting though, is that our efforts have been focused on finishing our first living space – the media room! And although we’ve labelled it a ‘media room’, we really want this space to act as a second lounge room. It comes off the hallway and will have a huge sliding door from Rustica Hardware – so when it’s open, it will really feel connected to other areas in the home. However, when it’s closed, this room will feel super cosy and intimate.

We’ve insulated the external walls with Bradford Gold Batts and the internal walls with Bradford SoundScreen; two louvre windows from Wideline have been installed, and this wall has been sheeted with Gyprock Superchek. Easycraft Easyascot Full Wall Panels cover the two long walls and for the lighting we have used a couple of Ledvance LED superstar downlights as well as some gorgeous ‘D550 SH Light’ can lights from BG Lighting & Design that highlight the artwork.

I loved the soft olive in the first bedroom so much that I decided to use the colour again – Taubmans ‘Snow Olive’, and I’m so glad I did because everyone who walks into these spaces say the rooms have a calm and relaxing feel about them.

Furniture time!

In bedroom 3, similarly to the front two bedrooms, we’ve installed Easycraft Easyascot Dado Wall Panels. Initially, I chose Taubmans ‘Apricot Illusion’ for these panels – but I knew as soon as I saw it that it wasn’t right. Kyal was thrilled that I’d made yet another change! These panels have now been repainted with Taubmans ‘Sisal Rope’ 😉 The walls above are Taubmans ‘Cotton Ball’. The gorgeous, simplistic fan is the Modn3 in white from my fan. Once the carpet is laid in these rooms we’re ready to get styling!

Kyal’s clearly thrilled with my decision to change this colour…

The study nook is an alcove off the hallway, and as it is visible from the kitchen, it needs to be good looking! We’ve used a Tasmanian Oak bench for the desk, and recycled oregon shelving. The walls in the hallway are clad with Easycraft Easyline panels.

Visualising where the study nook will be built

Work is progressing throughout the rest of the house and next week our attention shifts to the main bathroom, powder room and laundry. This will mean that essentially the front half of the house is complete!
